Student Science Detectives!

Engaging young minds at Saunders Park in Trinidad next to the library

TCLT has recently installed two new 'science detective' display signs outside our land trust office, next to the Trinidad library, at Saunders Park (380 Janis Court, Trinidad CA 95570). We worked with Humboldt State University natural resource graphic design students to develop two engaging displays for young students.

The 'Animal Science Detective' display engages students to learn about animal trackes and to search for local animal tracks stamped into the concrete sidewalks around the park.

The 'Plant Science Detective' display engages students to walk in the native plant garden at the park, and to observe and record seasonal plant characteristics.

An activity worksheet is provided at the display that invites your children to learn and record their observations about the animals tracks and the plants around them. these worksheet are also available to download below.

Here is a graphic of each of the two signs at the park.
You can print out the worksheet flyers too.

Enjoy your time at Saunders Park. Email us a comment about how your child engaged in this outdoor science observation activity.
