Our priority project campaigns
Long-term stewardship, conservation land purchases, and new trails
Your membership is a reason why our community non-profit land trust is reaching for the stars. Below is a project summary and a donation request for your annual membership. Your tax-deductible donation will help fund important efforts this coming year including trails and land improvements, new conservation properties, projects and outdoor education programs. Membership benefits include making a positive difference in protecting and stewarding our Trinidad beaches and public trails. Membership also entitles you to vote for our volunteer TCLT Board of Trustees.
The Land Trust’s twenty-five coastal properties are monitored and managed by us, volunteers and landowners for public access, recreation and open space protections. Some of the properties we own include Houda Point, Baker Beach, Luffenholtz Beach and Tepona Point, our future Little River Trail property, Pilot Point, Saunders Park and public access easements to Moonstone Beach and Secret Beach.
We depend on your financial support to pursue these public-access trail projects of state-wide importance:
• Build the Little River Trail, a new link of the CA Coastal Trail/Hammond Trail, connecting to Trinidad.
• Purchase and permanently protect the Strawberry Rock Trail, iconic rock, and a 24-acre redwood forest.
• Partner with agencies for a safe, connecting trail system along the greater Trinidad coast.
• Continue a successful summer public hike program where naturalists guide walks on Trinidad trails.
• Grow a sustainable Land Stewardship Savings Fund, via planned giving and major donor support (initiated at Humboldt Area Foundation in 2016), to pay for all future trail and land stewardship expenses.
Please consider an end-of-the-year financial gift and join or renew as a donor member. And we ask you to consider that a willed or planned gift will allow TCLT to protect Trinidad trail properties for future generations.

TCLT is looking for a significant donation or pledge gift to continue engaging youth and citizens in our environmental education program that includes public school field trips, guided trail and low tide beach walks, naturalist docent training courses and a citizen science seabird monitoring program of Trinidad’s CA Coastal National Monument offshore rocks.

PROTECT STRAWBERRY ROCK
A proposed 45-acre conservation easement acquisition project that includes a beautiful creek-side redwood forest grove and permanent public forest trail to Strawberry Rock. Trinidad Coastal Land Trust, working with private landowner, is leading the effort to purchase and permanently protect this special culturally-significant place as a low-impact public recreation trail and conservation area in the redwood forest.
PROTECTION IN PERPETUITY LAND STEWARDSHIP FUND
Fundraising Campaign to establish a fund for the protection and stewardship of the over 20 conservation properties, beaches and trails owned by the land trust.
BUILD THE LITTLE RIVER TRAIL
In 2015 the land trust acquired a parcel connecting Hammond Trail at Clam Beach to Trinidad's Scenic Dr., a missing link to the California Coastal Trail. Fundraising is needed for Phase 1 of the Little River trail, construction.
IMPROVEMENTS AT HOUDA POINT
We are planning and fundraising for visitor improvement at this most popular beach park to include picnic benches, improved signage, restroom and anchor chain fix.
