About the Moonstone Beach Project (April 2025)
The Trinidad Coastal Land Trust (TCLT) is excited to launch
the Moonstone Beach Coastal Resilience and Public Access Planning
Project. With generous funding from the California State Coastal Conservancy (https://scc.ca.gov/), this $750,000 project aims to ensure safe, sustainable public access to one of Humboldt County’s most treasured beaches.

“We want to protect the spirit of Humboldt—making sure Moonstone Beach remains accessible and resilient, no matter the challenges ahead,” says Claire Nasr, Executive Director of TCLT. “This project will help safeguard this beautiful space for everyone who enjoys it.”

TCLT will collaborate with expert consultants, tribal partners, local agencies, and the community to design climate-resilient improvements, ensuring long-term public access. Community meetings and listening sessions will be held to gather input from locals and create solutions that reflect the values of the region. This planning initiative marks the first step toward securing funding for climate adaptation efforts at Moonstone Beach.
(Successful Moonstone Beach Public Listening Session (July 2025)
Thank you to the 27 community members who attended our recent public listening session on Moonstone Beach. Together, we explored the history of this cherished location and discussed the challenges and opportunities ahead, particularly in the face of climate change. The conversation focused on how we can shape a resilient future for Moonstone Beach, with community input at the heart of our planning. Your valuable insights will guide us as we work to enhance the beach’s accessibility, sustainability, and resilience for generations to come.

Stay tuned for future opportunities to get involved and help shape the future of Moonstone Beach!
