Coastal Clean-Up at Luffenholtz Beach
Join Land Trust Volunteers September 16, 9am - noon Hosted by our land trust and locally organized by the Northcoast Environmental Center, California Coastal Cleanup Day is the largest volunteer event in the US and International Coastal Cleanup Day is the largest volunteer event on the planet!
Join the Trinidad Coastal Land Trust in cleaning up at Luffenholtz Beach Park. Meet at the parking area above the beach off of South Scenic Drive (just north of Houda Pt./Camel Rock) at 9:00 AM. Bring gloves, a reuseable water bottle, a bucket if you have one and wear sturdy shoes. Other equipment will be provided.

Sunset Naming Ceremony and A Circle of Gratitude at Houda Point
Saturday Sept. 16th, 6:30pm-8pm
Land Trust supporters, donors and members are invited to join us the early evening of Saturday September 16th at our Houda Point (Camel Rock) ocean vista property (on the bluff near the parking lot) for a special inaugural annual ceremony appreciating the land and the people who support our conservation efforts. This meaningful outdoor event will be a time to reflect on loved ones, place, the coastal beauty and to honor those who have made a donation to help the land trust acheive its mission of protection coastal land in perpetuity for public benefits and access for all.
Land trust member and donor names and the names of individuals’ who’ve had a donation made ‘in honor of’ or ‘in memory of’ will be read aloud, around a ceremonial fire, with blessings and the intention of appreciating people and place. There will be live harp music and time for reflection. We welcome our members, donors and all guests to share in this special ocean sunset event.
Reservations are appreciated. Please R.S.V.P. and call our office with any questions. All donations and names received by September 12th will be included. Finger foods and refreshments will be served following the reading. There are no restrooms available on site. Please arrive 10 minutes early.

Guided Geology and Biology Walk

Trinidad Rocks, Geology & Habitats of Trin. State Beach
Learn the stories rocks can tell, led by Danny O’Shea, HSU Geology and Oceanography lecturer. Danny is skilled at helping us understand the processes that shape the coast and create the dramatic landscapes we enjoy. This field introduction to the geology and habitats of Trinidad State Beach is the first session of the fall Trinidad Naturalist Training (see box below for more on the training series).
Meet at the parking lot at the base of Trinidad Head for a field exploration followed by a tour of the HSU Marine Lab. Field session space is limited.
