Exclusively featuring original paintings for sale by Ned Lee Simmons (1939-2011). The public is invited to attend and refreshments will be served. The show will be on exhibit Saturdays and Sundays 1-4 through March 18th.
This will be a rare opportunity to own a one-of-a-kind painting by a local celebrity. Ned Simmons was a long time board member of the Land Trust, Trinidad Museum, Fire Dept. and more. When he passed away in 2011 he donated his home (now Trinidad Art Gallery) and much of his artwork to the Land Trust.
The opening reception is Saturday, February 17th from 1-4 pm. The public is invited to attend and refreshments will be served. The show will be on exhibit Saturdays and Sundays 1-4 through March 18th.
The Simmons Gallery is located at 380 Janis Court in Trinidad, adjacent to the Trinidad Public Library and Trinidad Museum at Saunders Park. Gallery hours are Saturday and Sunday 1-4 p.m. Admission is free.
Including trail restoration, ivy pulls and beach clean ups at our public beach properties along Scenic Drive including Houda Point, Luffenholtz Beach and Baker Beach.

9am-noon: Houda Point trails workday and beach clean-up with Arcata High School Surfrider Club.

9am-noon: Baker Beach ivy removal and trail maintenance with HSU Natural Resources Club.

The Land Trust and Civic Club announce a memorial service honoring the life of Dr. Chi-wei Lin (May 16, 1936 - May 23, 2017) at the Trinidad Town Hall. Chi-wei was a community volunteer, artist, physician and Trinidad mayor with a long list of selfless accomplishments.
The 2pm service will be followed by a reception and artwork benefit from 3:30 to 5pm at the same location featuring these paintings and many more by Chi-wei. The proceeds from the sale of the paintings will benefit the Land Trust in efforts to maintain trails and beaches, and the Civic Club in efforts to save the Memorial Lighthouse.
There are over 100 paintings ranging in price from $20 to $400. Any paintings remaining after the benefit will be hung at the Trinidad Coastal Land Trust's Simmons Gallery at 380 Janis Court for the month of November. Gallery hours Sat./Sun. 1-4pm

The Trinidad Light House was built in 1871 and for decades light house keepers lived out on the rocky head and maintained the light and bell houses. Meet at the Trinidad Head Trail at State Beach parking lot at 955am, for a walk to the historic site and learn more about its fascinating history.
