Citizen Science Seabird Monitoring

Beginning in the Spring of 2018, our Land Trust (partnered with Humboldt State University's Wildlife Dept. our local Bureau of Land Management staff and the Seabird Protection Network) successfully started a volunteer program we call Citizen Science Seabird Monitoring. This free training and program are open to volunteers interested in visiting beautiful ocean vista locations in greater Trinidad and using a spotting scope to identify and log seabirds on specific rocks. Our inaugural graduation class of 2018 had 12 volunteers who loved the experience. Our observations are providing scientists with valuable data.

Sign up (click here) as a potential volunteer.

Space is limited and pre-registration will be required. See schedule below. Please check back for information regarding the 2020 Seabird season.
